In the seven months since Sharon Reed left the CBS-46 newsroom, she'southward continued to live life on her terms and even appeared on a cable tv bear witness, " Ambitions ," on OWN, with the drama's star, Robin Givens. At her core, she remains and is true to who she is: a caring and passionate journalist. Every bit the agenda flipped from 2019 to 2020, Reed stopped by our offices to share what's new in her world.

"Merely because you leave one affiliate, which was my pick and that's what I wanted to do: bet on myself, go out there and pivot," says Reed. "Just it's still who I am: I'm still curious, I've done interviews with newsmakers and it's in my claret, and I love information technology."

While she remains coy on whether she wants to do more than interim, Reed admits her cameo office onAmbitions, a multi-generational family unit saga centered around fictional political power players in the metropolis of Atlanta, was an accented thrill!

"It'south such a juicy drama and I'k addicted to it! In the showtime episode I was in, I was contrary Robin Givens and my heart was chirapsia out of my chest because she's the queen. I didn't desire to mess up. Yes, I played a reporter getting the exclusive. It was just fun! The cast is only the all-time! These folks were just wonderful, kind, cute, and it was a lot of fun!" Mega-producer Will Packer is behind the drama, forth with co-creator Jamey Giddens.

"We had such a not bad time with Sharon," said Giddens. "She'southward a natural, and not just because we cast her as a reporter. She really continued with Robin Givens and Erica Folio in her scenes, giving us some of our juiciest moments for season one ofAmbitions."

Reed remains passionate about politics and has been closely following national and regional races. On Dec. 4, Georgia governor Brian Kemp announced he would name Kelly Loeffler equally the replacement for retiring Senator Johnny Isakson, effectively spurning the overtures President Donald Trump made as he endorsed U.S. Representative Doug Collins. While Loeffler serves out the 4th year of Isakson's 6-year term, the state'due south other Senator, David Perdue, will be running for re-ballot, creating a rare moment: Georgia's two Senate seats volition be up for grabs in 2020.

Every bit of Sept. 30, Perdue reported $6 million in cash on hand — before a November fundraiser headlined past President Trump. His two best-funded Democratic rivals, Teresa Tomlinson and Jon Ossoff had raised $932,981 and $1,343,503, respectively, as of Sept. 30. Loeffler, described by Governor Kemp every bit a concern executive "outsider" in the mold of Perdue, has announced herself set to spend $20 million of her own money to retain her seat. Coupled with downward-ballot wins by land Democrats in 2018, the Gilt Dome is sixteen seats away from turning blue in the state's House of Representatives.

"The easy name is Stacey Abrams," Reed says when asked almost who would challenge Loeffler and Perdue for their U.S. Senate seats this yr. "But she's fabricated information technology clear she'due south not going to do that. I tried to straddle the fence when I was a local news anchor. But boy, she excites me and and then many other people obviously. Excitement is the key. Senator Isakson is out, but we need to be excited enough to go wait in line, early vote and bulldoze turnout in these angry and trying times.

"I don't know if somebody who tried their paw and didn't do it before, would do it for me. There might be somebody out there that we haven't even thought nigh who's going to jump in. I'll be watching very closely and seeing how the candidates will measure up. These are the best times if you love politics! Whether it's at the presidential level, annihilation can happen. I call up if we get our voter fraud issues together and truly interested in getting everyone counted, anything happens!"

Reed besides discussed her time as a sports reporter in Cleveland. Would a return to sports would be in the cards?

"I never say never. Early on in my career, I was so regimented," explained Reed. "I said I was going to practise this, so practise that ..in all phases of my life. I'd be open up to anything … almost! But at this stage in my career, I want to do something that matters. I always have passion, that won't alter. But I actually want to spend my days producing content, staying curious well-nigh the subject matter that I enjoy!

"I was a erstwhile college athlete…not a great one, but I was.  But what I loved about sports reporting wasn't about the Xs and Os, but the stories and the people backside the stories ..inside the locker room! Fifty-fifty when I wasn't a sideline reporter, I prided myself on breaking stories and non going with the team line or the PR representation. I remember many people meet it equally "news" and "sports" (are separate) just I don't encounter it that way. They're stories … and people! That's the thing that makes people stand up up, pay attention and take notice."

No matter if it'southward interim, hard news, sports, or being a devoted mother to her eight-year-old daughter, Ava, Reed's passion for news, sports, and pop civilisation continues to course through her veins. She volition continue to pursue her interests with the passion that catapulted her into a star and promises to go along her fans updated every stride of the fashion.
